Big Sur Waves, Mist and Clouds
A few days ago I ventured down to Big Sur with my camera to take advantage of the first sunny coastal forecast in weeks. When I arrived I still found a fair amount of fog and mist. I took a couple of pictures, then waited to see what the weather would do.
After some hiking around, I realized that although the conditions weren’t what I'd expected, the scenery was beautiful and grand all the same. In fact, the coastal vistas were just as they normally are here in northern California, so I stopped waiting for the elements to “improve”.
I’ve a few favorite photos from Big Sur, but this one in particular, which I’m calling Big Sur Waves, Mist and Clouds, really captures the essence of place. I love that the photograph shows three forms of water at Big Sur's shoreline: water as ocean waves, water as mist, and water as vapor in the clouds above.
