Art in the time of Coronavirus

Hydrangea Mask, April 2020

Hydrangea Mask, April 2020

The magnitude of the global health and economic impacts of the Coronavirus is a lot to process. For me personally, acceptance has been coming in waves.

In early March I wrote a blog post about having been selected to participate in two juried art shows, and the next day I learned that I was invited to a third. I’d been working hard on my art and was thrilled for the momentum my photography was gaining. Needless to say, all three exhibits have been cancelled.

I shot this self-portrait as a coming to terms with this dreadful virus, and everything that it has upended in the art world, as well as in the world at large. While no one quite knows the landscape that lies ahead, we can continue to pursue creativity, and I will be making work as much as I can.

Be sure to join my email list in order to stay connected and learn about new photographs.

Best wishes for health and wellness,

Laura
