Welcoming spring with a new gallery wall

This week here in Livermore, California the temperatures have finally started to feel like spring. Blossoms have appeared on neighborhood trees seemingly overnight, and both are welcome changes after a long stretch of cold weather in this pandemic winter. In line with upbeat temps and more sunlight, I really want to “spring clean” and declutter our house but first I went to arrange an updated gallery wall in the living room. Doing so feels a bit like coming out of a hibernation and orienting myself and our small family of 3 to a new chapter.

A lot of people change knick-knack décor seasonally, particularly for holidays throughout the year, however artwork is often overlooked and tends to stay the same month in, month out, year in, year out. Personally I find displaying new pictures and re-arranging existing wall art really enjoyable because it plays such an important role in a home’s personality and ambiance. The same is true whether it is with my fine art photographs or with other artwork.

Hanging spring or summer-like prints in place of autumn/ winter-themed art sets a beautiful stage for welcoming in a new season. The artwork shown here is, clockwise from top: Bertrand on Baby’s First Birthday framed print, Los Olivos maple wood print, Bottle Brush II framed print and Playing the Field (acrylic on birch panel) by Karen Hansen (also my step-mom, @klhansen.art on IG).
