My crystal pendant power piece statement necklace adorns Buddha

… on the rare occasions that I’m not wearing Kuan Yin myself :).

After finishing the hard work of installing a new, wood floor (w/ my honey’s help) as part of this summer’s photo studio transformation I thought I’d mark the achievement with a “self-care gift-to-self”. I’d seen images of friend Alauna Whelan’s one-of-a-kind crystal pendants on Instagram and thought, well if the pink opal and faden quartz piece that’s roughly the shape of California is still available, I’ll treat myself to it. And remarkably, it was, and so, I did! This particular pendant from Alauna’s Care and Compassion collection is called Kuan Yin. Everything about it feels ceremonial.

Similar to the spirit that Marie Kondo, personal organizing guru, advocates about whether an item brings joy, and if so, honoring it accordingly, I thought, I treasure this pendant and want it to have a lovely resting place. This is where Buddha comes in. Buddha had been in the backyard nestled among potted plants, but now has the important job of holding dried flowers and seed pods and wearing Kuan Yin when I’m not.
