Making an Entrance: Statement Wall Art

When it comes to first impressions, we generally think of meeting someone new. But another kind of first impression is a home’s entryway: it introduces our tastes and sensibilities to the outside world, and sets the ambiance for guests right off the bat.

I love the way Mendocino Teasels, taken while staying at a friend’s ranch in Willits, California, on a sunny August day, makes a warm statement in this bright foyer. The color palette is muted enough to be considered neutral, while the white, puffy clouds, blue sky and teasels reaching up communicate a certain hopefulness.
