A little shelf here, and a little shelf there

Last summer I sketched out a design for a wall of shelves in my photo studio, and found a promising solution at IKEA. This system, called IVAR, is great in that it is endlessly configurable and can adapt over time. As you can see, my relatively new setup is already overflowing, and I could use another few sections to keep my photo gear and accessories in order. I really love that IVAR has a corner shelving unit to maximize use of a small space.

I inherited an enthusiasm for shelving from my mom, who worked as an interior designer (among other creative pursuits), and who, to this day, continues to find places to hang, “a little shelf here, and a little shelf there”, something that became a running joke when my sister and I were growing up.
