Happy New Year 2022

Stamping fun on New Year’s Day in my photo studio. Styled with petite roses from Trader Joe’s.

“And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.”
~ Rainer Maria Rilke

I’ve been so excited about a fresh start, a whole brand new year ahead, I began working in the studio at 4:00 a.m. today, New Year’s Day 2022 (& am not known to be an early riser). Not long after, our 4 year old son, William, came to find me and helped welcome the sunrise with space heaters humming and the sheepskin rug keeping things cozy. We decided on doing some stamping together. It was so much fun, I couldn’t have dreamed up a better way to spend the morning and usher in 2022.

Laura Farrell's preschooler son William is keeping her company in her photo studio in Livermore, California. Kid sits with iPad and warm blankets on a sheepskin rug and a window showing early winter morning light.

William keeping me company is the best studio “assistant” I could wish for.

January 6th: here’s an addendum image showing the cozy studio setting with William keeping me company on another cold winter morning. We were so busy stamping on NYD I didn’t get a photo of our crafty fun. What is it they say about the shoemaker’s kids? I’m often so in the moment with Will that I don’t think to take a picture, or don’t want to disrupt the moment. Fortunately my husband Adam is pretty good about snagging pics here and there..
