A cozy winter work from home space

It may be a new year (yay, we welcome you, 2021!), but it seems that working from home, or WFH, and plenty of Zoom calls aren’t going away anytime soon.

This week-end I took some time to set up a cozy little workspace I’m calling my Modern Farmhouse Corner. Think “Office Space meets Pastoral Abundance”. I really wanted to have an area that I was 100% drawn to since I spend so much time at a desk. And oh, how many of us cherish the idea of a clear desk?! Can you say instant mood-enhancer?? Now if I could only maintain it..

As a photographer, or visual artist, I love to feature a favorite art print at which to gaze and contemplate all manner of things. Here hangs one of my favorites, Bertrand on Baby’s First Birthday printed on an eco-maple wood panel (24 x 30”). I chose this ready-to-hang photograph because I want to bring a bit of nature into my work zone. Doing so acts as a mental canvas on which I can dream and plan, it’s also a reminder of what I’m working for, which is to say future travel adventures.

Do you have a work from home set up that you love? Or do you want to strategize a cozy area for yourself? My four must-haves are 1) a desk, naturally (preferably clear of debris!), 2) a comfortable chair, 3) a warm light and/ or candle, and 4) last but not least, inspiring wall art.

Happy new year. Let’s not forget to smell the roses.
